Share your thoughts on public rights of way
We are responsible for around 2164 miles (3482 km) of public rights of way. These paths are both in the countryside and urban areas. They are important for enjoying and exploring, for travelling to work or school and for health and wellbeing. They are part of what makes 中国P站 a special place to live, work and enjoy.
Every council that is responsible for public rights of way must have a Rights of Way Improvement Plan (ROWIP). This sets out how public rights of way meet the needs of the public, now and in the future.
Our draft Rights of Way Improvement Plan
With over 4000 responses to our initial Rights of Way Improvement Plan survey, we have now drafted a new Rights of Way Improvement Plan. We want to give everyone a final opportunity to have their say and shape the new plan which will run for ten years until 2035.
What was clear from the responses to the initial survey is that we can do more to support everyone in our communities by making public rights of way as accessible as possible. You also let us know that you want us to:
- better maintain public rights of way
- cut back overgrowth
- repair surfaces
- provide better signage.
We have listened and included these important themes within the draft plan along with future proofing the network and working smarter with stakeholders to deliver the best outcomes.
Have your say
Share your views on our draft Rights of Way Improvement Plan (ROWIP) 2025 to 2035. The should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
Please allow extra time to read the draft ROWIP. The is open until 9 February 2025.
