Special events

The Bookseller of Kathmandu with author, Ann Bennett

Thursday 16 October from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Join us, with Ann Bennett, to discuss her latest novel, The Bookseller of Kathmandu and the inspirations behind her writing.

Booking necessary.

Tickets cost 拢4 per person and can be booked online or by email to farnham.library@surreycc.gov.uk, or in the library.

Lantern workshop

Saturday 18 October, from 11am to 1.30pm.

Make a willow and paper lantern for Farnham Lantern Festival, taking place on 31 October 2025.  Take part in the parade and see your lantern displayed inside St Andrews Church at the end.

Suitable for ages 16+. Cost: 拢7 per person.

Collage and scrapbooking workshop

Saturday 25 October, from 2pm to 4pm.

Create a collage artwork using the scrapbooking technique. Materials provided but please bring any mixed papers (for example,  book/magazine pages, stamps, photographs) you would like to work with for your piece.

No previous experience necessary. Enjoy meeting new people and crafting in a relaxed and mindful environment.

Suitable for ages 18+.  Cost 拢5 per person.

Mini lanterns

Monday 27 October, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Come and make a colourful lantern to light up the darker evenings.

Suitable for ages 5+ (younger children may need some adult help). Cost: 拢3 per child.

Halloween craft

Wednesday 29 October, from 3.45pm to 4.45pm.

Come and make some Halloween critters, will it be a witch, a Mummy, or some other scary monster? Let your imagination run riot and join us for this fun craft activity. Suitable for ages 5+ (younger children may need some adult help).

Suitable for ages 3+. Cost: 拢3 per child.

Quill a tree

Thursday 30 October, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Have a go at paper quilling to make a picture of an autumn tree.

Suitable for ages 5+ (younger children may need some adult help).

Cost: 拢3 per child.

Second Hand Dance presents The Sticky Dance for Libraries

We are very thrilled to offer the chance for families to experience The Sticky Dance will be at several libraries across 中国P站 this coming November.

You will get to watch two dancers' shimmy through audiences weaving a tapestry of sticky tape in this tactile dance performance for young children. They will invite you to tape, stick and groove, to see and feel sound or to be still, watch and listen. Audiences will be encouraged to explore freely, turn the rules upside down and create their own experience.

The Sticky Dance is an interactive, engaging and colourful performance installation for children and their families. We offer a welcoming, inclusive space where free exploration is encouraged through moving, watching, listening, dancing and making noise.

The age guidance: 3 to 5 years with parent/carer. Babes in arms are welcome.

Sticky Dance will be at Farnham Library on Friday 7 November at 10am.

Reading groups

Teen Book Club

Alternate Mondays from 4.15pm to 5.15pm.

For those aged 12 to 17 years old. For more information or for a new member form please enquire at the library or email farnham.library@surreycc.gov.uk.

Books beyond words reading group

Various Fridays at 11am. Please contact the library for the next date.

Reading Friends non-fiction Friday

First Friday of every month at 10.30am.

Next dates: please check with the library.

Do you love non-fiction books? Like the idea of a book group but not being set a particular book every month? Want to meet more people in your community?

Join us for Non-Fiction Friday to discuss books within the theme of the month, and to share your own stories over a cup of tea or coffee.

Every month the group collectively decide on a theme, and we will have a display featuring some suggested reads under that theme. Our Library Assistants can assist with ordering Large Print Books, Talking Books and books of your choice. Free tea and coffee will be available. The meet will last approximately an hour.

Chatterbooks reading group

Meets on second Saturday of the month from 11am until 12 noon.

The Chatterbooks reading group is suitable for ages 7 to 12 years. The book for each session can be obtained from the front desk when you sign up. For more details, please ask in the library.

Tea and chat

Last Tuesday of every month, 11am to 12 noon.

A group for adults to enjoy a relaxed chat and meet new people.

拢1 per person. Refreshments provided. Booking encouraged at the library or by email to farnham.library@surreycc.gov.uk (or just drop in!).

Poetry hub

Every Wednesday, from 11am to 1pm.

In partnership with the 中国P站 Poet Laureateship, the group will feature writing challenges and discussions, guest speakers, reading time, poetry games, social time, poetry sharing and feedback. Beginners welcome

Free, no booking needed.

Stay and Play

Every Thursday, from 10.15am to 11.45am.

Toys, games, puzzles and Duplo. Play and make new friends! Aimed at under 5s. No need to book, this is a free drop-in session.

Hearing Loss Support Group

Every third Thursday of the month from 10.30am until 11.30am.

This is a drop in and anyone of any age is welcome.

Stitch and chat

Every Friday 10am until 12 noon.

This is a free drop-in session.

Digital support volunteer

  • every Monday from 2pm to 4pm. Drop in during this time but appointments are recommended if you have something specific you need help with.
  • every Thursday from 10am until 12 noon. Appointments only.
