Kathak Indian Dance Performance and Workshop

Kathak is one of the eight classical dance forms of India, known for its graceful movements, intricate footwork, rhythmic patterns, and storytelling. In this activity, participants will first experience a short stage performance showcasing traditional Kathak repertoire, followed by an engaging workshop where they will learn basic footwork (tatkaar), hand gestures (mudras), rhythm exercises, and simple expressive movements. The session aims to give young people an introduction to Kathak’s blend of rhythm, movement, and storytelling.
Coding Games Workshop with Chaos Created

Location: Upstairs Computers in Staines Library Hub
Led by a real-world app and game developer, this Coding Games Workshop teaches coding fundamentals with a very practical workshop, designed for beginners with no previous coding experience required. Get hands-on and create an arcade-style game, complete with your own pixel-art graphics, which you'll be able to play and develop further from home and share with your family and friends. During this workshop, we'll be developing an arcade-style space-shooter, complete with basic gaming physics, a score and health system, and creating some fun enemies and power-ups in the process.
Micro-Museum with Amy Stone in Collaboration with Spelthorne Museum

What does it take to put together a museum? How do curators choose which objects to include? How do you tell stories in an accessible and interesting way?
Participants in this workshop will explore the different techniques used in creating museum displays and have a chance to make their own micro-museum.

Dreamscape explores the shifting terrain between reality and imagination. Explore a place where dreams go beyond everyday life and invite you to explore new versions of yourself. Here, logic bends, deserts sink beneath oceans, and the unexpected becomes exciting rather than scary. In this place, where nothing quite makes sense, you’re free to be bold, colourful, and curious. Sometimes, in the middle of all this chaos, the puzzle pieces fall into place.

Get hands-on with vinyl in this interactive session DJ session and try scratching and mixing on vinyl. This drop-in session is headphone-only, with two participants at a time. Perfect for beginners. No prior experience required.
The Film Festival, Spelthorne Jobs and Skills Hub
Filming in Macro - Return of the Snails with National Film and Television School

Macro-cinematography invites us into a whole new miniature world - one that exists right under our noses. In this workshop, students will explore the macro world and learn how to build sequences in natural history film.
Attendees will work in groups to create a short, one-minute film centred around a large (macro) character, a snail, in its small environment. They will plan their story by creating a simple storyboard of 4–5 shots, then build their sets and shoot their film. Once filming is complete, attendees will add voice-over or sound effects. Their films will be edited into a timeline and screened for the group to enjoy together. Copies of the film will be available to take away.

Led by Dan Burton from Pinewood and Shepperton Studios; a costumier, sound engineer, producer and visual effects artist, all just a few roles into working in the film and television industry will talk about their education choices and how they got their break-through jobs – this will be genuine advice from young people just a few steps ahead of you.

Film Festival Competition Entry Screenings and Awards Ceremony

Missing 10 Hours is a narrative-driven interactive VR experience where the viewer plays the role of a bystander in a party scenario, with the power to intervene in a developing situation where a woman is drugged by a man, and their choices influence the outcome of the story. The experience explores the Bystander Effect with the goal of encouraging empathy and action to prevent harm.
This has a minimum viewing age of 16. There will be a member of staff available at all times and sign posting to mental health charities will be on display.
