Drawing & Painting - Mixed Media - Stage 2

Course intent

You will learn the skills to develop and expand your range of techniques. According to your level, you will develop drawing, painting, mixed-media and design skills, gaining a deeper understanding of the range of processes.

What will I learn?

You will learn:

  • Design Techniques: Tutor demos giving learners ideas and techniques
  • Material Knowledge: The correct use of materials & tools
  • Craftsmanship: Develop your understanding of the particular techniques required, using artists to inform and inspire
  • Production Process: Different techniques and medium
  • Workshop Practice: Understand the importance of a safe working environment and H&S requirements.

    Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

    Stage 2 - Suitable for learners who have completed stage 1 and would like to gain more experience and refine their skills within their chosen subject area. The focus will be on developing more control and proficiency in practice and learning and completing more complex projects.

    What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

    For the first session bring:

  • A3 sized pad of good quality mixed media paper 250gsm
  • A range of drawing pencils such as 2H, 2B and 6B
  • Sharpener and soft eraser
  • Black fine liner pen
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Any drawing materials you may own such as felt pens, coloured pencils, pastels or inks
  • Any water based paints such as watercolours or acrylic paints

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto longer courses or enrol on our other Arts and Crafts courses.
