Course intent
You will learn the knowledge and skills needed to broaden the range of techniques and design skills, gaining a deeper understanding of the medium of watercolour.
What will I learn?
You will learn:
- Design Techniques: Tutor demos giving learners ideas and techniques
- Material Knowledge: The correct use of materials & tools
- Craftsmanship: Develop your understanding of the particular techniques required, using artists to inform and inspire
- Production Process: Different techniques and washes
- Workshop Practice: Understand the importance of a safe working environment and H&S requirements
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
Stage 1 - This stage is for learners who are new to their chosen subject area. With the focus on introducing individuals to basic materials, tools, and techniques, and to inspire confidence in creative expression.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
For the first session bring:
- Paper: Watercolour paper - Cold Press 300 gsm or similar, A4 or A3 size.
- Brushes: Synthetic or synthetic/hair mixtures, Round pointed: 12 /14 (Recommend Rosemary & Co Designer SER 344)
- Large Watercolour palette for mixing paint
- HB, B pencils
- Tissues and/or cotton rags
- Small notebook or sketchbook/ journal (suggested A4/A5)

What can I do when I finish the course?
In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto longer courses or enrol on our other Arts and Crafts courses.
