Course intent
This course will help you build your creative writing skills and promote your confidence, whether they are short stories, novels or other creative writing forms. You will be encouraged to explore your creativity and imagination.
What will I learn?
You will:
- Creative Writing: Introduced to different types of writing and develop a range of writing pieces to discover which forms resonate with you the most.
- Idea Development: How to cultivate your ideas into compelling, well-structured stories.
- Character Creation: Understand the key elements of building authentic, relatable characters that will engage your readers.
- Plot structure: Master the essential techniques of crafting an engaging and well-paced plot, ensuring your story captures attention.
- Constructive discussion: Gain valuable skills in giving and receiving feedback in a positive and supportive way, helping you grow as a writer.
- Writing Assignments: Complete tasks, such as writing a few hundred words from a prompt, to help refine your writing and encourage regular practice.
Whether you are just starting to write or want to boost your understanding of techniques, this course aims to hone your skills and give you tools and ideas to stimulate you to write.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
Stage 1 - This stage is for learners who are new to their chosen subject area. With the focus on introducing individuals to basic materials, tools, and techniques, and to inspire confidence in creative expression.
To take this course, you need to be working at Level 2, which means a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 (previously Grade C) or Functional Skills Level 2. If you're unsure about your level of English or have any concerns, please feel free to reach out via email.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
Please bring a notebook and pen/pencil to each class. 中国P站 Adult Learning asks all learners to use and maintain a notebook to document their learning and to bring it to each session. There is no need for further equipment although access to a computer and the internet for writing and sending homework is useful but not essential.
What can I do when I finish the course?
In discussion with your tutor, you can progress onto Stage 2 Creative Writing courses or workshops.
