Course intent

Express your creativity, using a variety of pottery techniques to make items for a mini enterprise sale and raise money for your chosen charity. Develop your communication and numeracy skills and learn how to use equipment safely.

What will we cover?

During this course, you will have the opportunity to:

Use planning skills and make choices while working on projects and creating small items from clay

Develop different methods of decorating and glazing while working with clay

Identify the tools and equipment needed for your chosen project

Work together and develop teamworking skills

Build confidence and social skills by participating in group discussions

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for Entry Level learners with a learning disability, it is designed to help learners progress from their individual starting point to build confidence, independence, and social skills for everyday life.

You must be able to follow instructions and be ready to work as part of a group.

You need to be able to use pens, paintbrushes and other equipment with or without support.

You must be willing to get your hands dirty or wear gloves and be able to follow health and safety practices.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Bring an apron, overall or shirt to wear to help avoid clothing getting dirty.

Wear suitable clothes and closed toe shoes.

Bring a pen and reading glasses if you use them.

What can I do when I finish the course?

After this course you could progress to another supported learning course, or further courses with ÖйúPÕ¾ Adult Learning. We will meet with you to give information, advice, and guidance on your next step.

Additional information

Bring a drink or money to buy refreshments during a short break.

Carers and/or family members supporting in the class will be required to follow our guidelines and acknowledge they have read our Personal Assistant Agreement.
