Gardening - Autumn Basket & Window Boxes Workshop

Course intent

In this workshop, you will learn how to create beautiful autumn-themed baskets and window boxes to brighten up your outdoor space during the fall season. You will explore the types of plants that thrive in autumn, and how to design and plant your baskets and window boxes for maximum impact

What will I learn?

You will learn:

  • Plant Selection: Discover the best autumn plants, including seasonal flowers, foliage, and hardy perennials for baskets and window boxes.
  • Design Techniques: How to design an attractive arrangement for your baskets or window boxes, balancing colour, texture, and height.
  • Planting Techniques: Gain hands-on experience in planting techniques specific to containers, ensuring healthy growth and long-lasting displays.
  • Container Care: Understand how to maintain your autumn baskets and window boxes, including watering, feeding, and protecting plants from the cold.
  • Seasonal Tips: How to transition your containers for the colder months and ensure they stay vibrant throughout autumn.
  • Health & Safety: Proper handling and maintenance of tools to prevent injury in a safe working environment.

    Discover your artistic potential and have fun along the way. SAL workshops are suitable for beginners and those looking to improve their skills. All materials will be provided (unless stated in course description), and you'll leave with your own handmade creations. No prior experience is necessary鈥攋ust bring your creativity and enthusiasm!

    What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

    You need to bring:

  • An apron and closed toe shoes
  • A notebook and pen
  • A pair of gloves
  • Plants and Materials (Optional): If you have specific plants or decorative elements you鈥檇 like to incorporate into your baskets/window boxes.

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto Gardening Workshops or further Arts & Crafts courses at SAL
