Join us into discovering the history of slavery in Greece and Rome in ancient times
What will I learn?
In this examination, we will explore the history and common features of slavery in two ancient societies focusing on the custom of prisoners of war (P.O.W.s) being sold to slave dealers.
An analysis of the roles of slaves and their contribution to the development of the two societies.
How were slaves treated? Unusual examples eg the enslavement of the whole population of a neighbouring state by the Spartans to create a workforce.
Was the morality of slavery ever considered?
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
