Course intent
Get a taste for this style of Calligraphy and learn about its origins and history. Try your hand at writing with an edged pen to create some beautiful lettering
To use on Christmas cards, gift tags and wrapping paper.
What will I learn?
You will learn:
- how to write with a broad-edged pen nib
- about spacing
- how to write in colour using some gouache
- how to write simple phrases and quotes for bookmarks and gift tags
- script variations
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is for all abilities, but if you wish to refresh your skills after a time away from art or calligraphy you should bring along some text/project they would like to work on during the day.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You need to bring:
- H Pencil
- Ruler
- Jar for water
- Kitchen Towel
- A short verse or quote you would like to write out
- wear old clothes or an apron
- packed lunch
What can I do when I finish the course?
You will have the opportunity to join a longer running Calligraphy class or other workshops to improve your skills and learn new calligraphic hands. You can book onto:
