Course intent
For more experienced learners or on completion of level 3. This advanced jewellery making course is the perfect opportunity to enhance your skills, refine your techniques, and progress towards more complex designs. The focus will be on transforming design concepts into wearable pieces of jewellery, incorporating both technical precision and creative expression. This stage will allow you to further master advanced techniques, craft polished and finished pieces and explore personal styles that reflect your unique aesthetic.
What will I learn?
You will learn:
- Design Techniques: Explore how to adapt and innovate your designs based on traditional aesthetics, taking inspiration from various sources such as nature, architecture, historical art movements, or personal experiences. You will master the art of transforming abstract concepts into tangible, wearable jewellery.
- Material Knowledge: Master your knowledge on sustainable and ethical practices in jewellery making, including using recycled metals and sourcing ethically mined stones. Learn how to combine different metals (such as gold, copper, or brass), and how to ensure they work well together both aesthetically and structurally.
- Craftsmanship: Be confident in the process of turning a design into reality. You will continue refining fundamental techniques such as piercing, sawing, and filing, but with a focus on achieving precision and finesse. Learn how to join complex pieces without causing distortion or weakening the integrity of the design.
- Production Process: You will focus on creating polished and professional results every time while exploring more sophisticated forming and soldering techniques. These methods allow you to create more detailed shapes, textures, and complex designs.
- Workshop Practice: Understand and be confident working with specialist tools and machinery and the associated H&S requirements and risks.
