Life & Portrait - Renaissance- inspired poses - Workshop

Course intent

Join in for a life-drawing session inspired by the Italian Renaissance where iconic Renaissance-like poses are recreated with the nude figure and some drapery. Use a range of approaches from a methodical and analytical approach that Da Vinci would appreciate to a more dynamic approach, conveying physicality like Michelangelo

What will I learn?

• techniques and approaches to drawing using line and shape

  • composition
  • Different kinds of mark-making and conveying of tone to describe volume, atmosphere and form

    Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

    This is a mixed ability class, so all are welcome

    What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

    · Pencils (HB and a softer one like 3B-6B) & rubber

  • · A3 or A2 drawing paper - 160gsm · A3 or A2 toned pastel paper (cream/grey/pale blue or other pastel colour) · Chalk · Black & sanguine in pastel pencils or conte pastel

    What can I do when I finish the course?

    Learners can progress onto other Arts & Crafts courses with SAL.

    The tutor will be happy to assist learners wishing to build a portfolio of work for entry to Further Education or alternative courses of study with other providers.
